Wavy March

In February and March I was able to finish four paintings of ocean. One of the largest is "Rocking" (28"x58") is my favorite now. Here are several pictures of painting progress and an example of it on the wall in a living room:

Crush on waves

My idea of painting on multi-canvas surfaces is coming to life with my new painting "Wave Song".
"Wave Song" (acrylic on 6 canvas; 22"x52")

I have been thinking how to paint on several canvases that create a multi-level surface for long time. I started by playing around with different canvas sizes; next I had to fix them together so they don't fall apart which was a challenge.

Inspired by seeing the mighty ocean and brave surfers, I started painting waves and couldn't stop. It's so meditating to paint water! Now I'm working on my 4th art work in the wave series and hope to post more progress soon.

My obsession with peonies

I admit my obsession with peonies! However it's a great practice to master painting peonies (and get it finally out of my to-paint list). Painting these beautiful flowers for the third time gave me more confidence; I was more relaxed, focusing more on design than flowers as their petals were more familiar to me now. I chose different setup - straight view of the peonies in a row of three separate vases. Here is the "Peony passion":

Grace of white peonies

Are you in love with peonies like I am? I couldn't resist painting the most beautiful (in my opinion) white peonies which represent grace and majesty of all flowers. Here is the new painting "Peony grace" and the process of its development below:

"Peony grace" (8"x8"; acrylic on canvas panel)

My first intention was to paint peonies buds that only started opening and a fully opened flower on the side. But during the painting process I started correcting the setup. To show the beauty of the flowers I decided to paint peonies in full bloom and to remove the flower on the side to keep it simple, less crowded.

I found many more square panels which I'm going to use to practice painting still life as I feel it's more suitable for still life than landscapes. So, more flowers in winter coming!

Start 2017 with peonies

My dear friends! First of all I would like to wish all of you a Happy and Healthy New Year!

My last months of 2016 were so busy with finishing a painting and getting the house ready for the holidays that I compromised my blogging time. One of my goals for 2017 is to post more updates and process of creating a painting in particular which many people find very interesting and always ask me questions related to art work development.

Here is the first painting of 2017 - "Peonies of love"
"Peonies of love" 6"x6"; acrylic on board

Peonies are my favorite flowers, their fragrance makes me feel like I'm in heaven. I wish they would bloom all year around! But we can only enjoy them for a couple of weeks in June here in New England.
